As a regular user of Power BI on Apple device, I chosed to configure a Windows VM with parallels desktop on my machine to get the best of the two worlds: Power BI Online on Mac for reading, editing and sharing dashboard, and Power BI Desktop on my VM for advanced editing and ETL stuffs.
We have also added the ability to refresh data from SQL server and from tables & ranges in the current workbook. Since then, we added the ability to refresh Power Query queries from TXT, CSV, XLSX, JSON and XML files. On that page, choose your language and press “Download” You’ll be taken to another page that prompts you to choose whether you have 32- or 64-bit Excel. In 2019 we started the journey to support Power Query in Excel for Mac. Next, go to the Microsoft Download Center to get the add-in. Before you go any further, exit Excel completely so the install can proceed. To me, Power Query is worth the upgrade to Office 365 alone, and there are a lot of other cool new features too. Unfortunately, if you dont have these versions you will need to upgrade to use Power Query.
